Traditional Indian Jal Neti now has become a standard treatment

Jal Neti, a time-honored yogic practice from ancient India, has gained recognition in modern medicine as an effective treatment for respiratory and sinus health. This nasal cleansing technique involves the use of lukewarm saline water to flush out the nasal passages, promoting overall health and well-being.

What is Jal Neti?

Jal Neti, meaning “water cleansing,” is a practice from Hatha Yoga that focuses on purifying the nasal passages. It is performed using a Neti pot, a small teapot-like device with a spout, filled with saline water.

How Jal Neti is Performed

  1. Prepare the Solution: Mix 1 teaspoon of non-iodized salt with lukewarm water.
  2. Use a Neti Pot: Tilt your head to one side, insert the spout into the upper nostril, and allow water to flow through and exit from the lower nostril.
  3. Switch Sides: Repeat the process on the other nostril.
  4. Blow Out Residual Water: Gently blow out water to clear the nasal passages.
