19th MTNL Perfect Health Mela to train general public on Compression Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Heart Care Foundation of India will be attempting three events, which will be covered by Limca Book of Records, for the first time in India.
1000 students and nurses will be trained in Continuous Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation live on 200 dummies at one go. Multiple rescuer Continuous Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation involves a technique where multiple people can conduct chest compression on one dead person for revival. The event will be held on 1st November, 2012 from 7am to 9am at Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, Sector-4, New Delhi.
On 9th November, 2012, Friday at Constitution Club of India, 200 nurses will be trained on Continuous Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on 200 dummies in the ratio of one dummy per person.
From 1st to 11th November, 2012, the Foundation will train upto 10000 people in Continuous Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
It is well known that life is reversible after sudden cardiac arrest in the first 10 minutes provided compression only CPR can be done effectively and continuously by bystanders or single bystander. The revival is based on the Mantra “within 10 minutes of cardiac arrest, compress the chest of the victim effectively and continuously with a speed of 10×10=100 per minute”. If automatic external defibrillators are available, then electric shock should be given before starting Continuous Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and if the same is not available, one can substitute them with two thumps in the centre of the chest which can be repeated after every two minutes.
