Navratre fast where cereals are not to be eaten.

  1.  Singhara flour is prepared from Singhara or Water Chestnut.
  2. Kuttu flour (Buckwheat flour) is another popular alternative. Despite its name, buckwheat is not related to wheat and is completely gluten-free. It is high in protein and fiber, and helps in maintaining blood sugar levels. It can be used to prepare rotis, pakoras, or parathas.
  3. Sabudana (Tapioca pearls) are a staple in fasting meals. They are rich in starch and provide quick energy. Sabudana is commonly used in dishes like khichdi, vada, or kheer.
  4. Samak rice (Barnyard millet), also called “Vrat ke chawal”, resembles rice in taste and texture but is actually a type of millet. It is light and easy to digest, and is usually cooked like regular rice or made into pulao or idli.
  5. Rajgira (Amaranth) is a highly nutritious grain alternative used during fasts. It contains good amounts of calcium, iron, and proteins. It can be used to make rotis, laddoos, or porridge.

All these ingredients not only honor the fasting tradition but also provide essential nutrients, keeping you energized and healthy during the Navratri days.
